Unicom Awards Huawei CDMA Upgrade Contract

Huawei announced on February 25 that it had won an exclusive contract to upgrade China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) existing CDMA network, with a network deployment scale of over 1600 carrier-sectors. Huawei's CDMA core networks use a pure IP approach and support a smooth upgrade to CDMA2000 EV-DO.
This will be Unicom's first major purchase of Huawei CDMA network equipment.
