Gamers Complain about New Tianxia II

17173.com, 3/01/08

Online gamers have been voicing dissatisfaction with Netease's (Nasdaq: NTES) new beta version of Tianxia II. Background music and background pictures in the Tianxia II character creation screens have come in for criticism for being "too Western," with many gamers saying they prefer the old, more traditionally Chinese style of earlier versions of Tianxia II. Users also complained about the game interface and control panels, as well as the addition of 3D hit-point meters and metallic windows, saying that they felt "jarring and inconsistent." Damage indicators, previously rendered in Chinese characters, now use Arabic numerals.

Many gamers said that they felt the new look of Tianxia II resembled a Q-style or Perfect World-style version. In addition, "pathetic" server performance has meant that a number of gamers have been completely unable to log into the game.
