Rumor: 60,000 Users to Get TD-SCDMA Numbers

An industry insider has revealed that 157-prefix TD-SCDMA numbers are to be issued to 60,000 users in late March or early April.

Yang Hua, Secretary General of the TD-SCDMA Alliance indicated that network optimization of the trial networks in ten cities was completed last month, with preferred users soon to receive numbers. Currently the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has approved use of fifteen handsets from eleven different manufacturers. System equipment now has large-scale independent networking capabilities and complete solutions for commercial rollout, with commercial products now available to operators.
