Rising Accused of Cheating in Online Poll

National Business Daily, 3/18/08

In an online "Most Trustworthy IT Product" poll held between February 20 and March 10, Rising won the anti-virus category with a 26.18% share of the vote, with Micropoint and Kaspersky taking second and third places.

However, an Internet user later accused Rising of cheating, posting video evidence of Rising's share of the vote increasing to 19.88% on March 7, taking it to second place, and then an hour later increasing to 22.13% and first place. Previously it had consistently been in third place. On March 8 it remained steady at 22.30%. Marketing expert Chen Gelei indicated that "cheating on online polls is common - it's just a case of who cheats most. It's easy to do technically and while Rising might have cheated, that doesn't mean the other brands didn't."
