SARFT Dismisses T-MMB as National Mobile TV Standard

The Mobile TV / Mobile Multimedia National Standard Expert Evaluation Group has chosen Nufront's T-MMB format as the national standard for mobile TV in China. However, head of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT)'s Science and Technology Department Wang Xiaojie has stated that the selection did not follow standard processes, and SARFT will not be using T-MMB.
According to one expert who participated in the process, broadcasting experts did not take part and the choice is therefore not representative. Lou Peide, a proponent of the CDMB standard indicated a broadcasting standard still requires SARFT support before it can be implemented, but current circumstances make that a virtual impossibility.
