Sina Tech, 4/18/08

Xie Feibo, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Industry and Information (MII)'s Radio Administration Bureau, has revealed that the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has agreed to reallocate a section of 700 MHz spectrum for mobile broadband, with the 3.4 GHz to 3.7 GHz band also to be used for mobile communications.

The 700 MHz range has good coverage and penetration, with 3G, LTE and WiMAX all being potential applications.

In the US, Verizon Wireless and AT&T Wireless both use 700 MHz frequencies for LTE data services, with AT&T also to provide HSPA+.
