56.com Explains Downtime

DoNews, 6/05/08

In response to the recent downtime of Chinese online video site 56.com, a source from 56.com's server room has stated that there had been no problem with the server room itself, but rather that the DNS entry for the 56.com domain had been set to a machine on 56.com's local network. This resulted in almost zero traffic to the site over the last few days. At the time of writing, 56.com had still not returned to normal operation.

Editor's note: On July 3, 56.com stated that problems accessing the site were due to an issue with its server room connection.
