Youku Expects Online Video License within Weeks

Victor Koo, CEO of Chinese online video firm Youku, claimed today that the company expects to be granted an Online Audio-Visual Broadcasting License within the next few weeks. However, he didn't reveal a specific time.

Youku also announced its cooperation and aggregation plan with domestic TV stations and their online video portals. Youku hopes to forms a media alliance and launch its branding cooperation strategies with these online portals. The first partners to sign on include Beijing Television Station (BTV), Shanghai Media Group subsidiary Dragon TV, China Film Group, Huayi Brothers Group, Universal Music Group, EMI, and a number of celebrities' official websites.
