Rumor: Netease Licenses Starcraft II

A industry insider has revealed that Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) and Blizzard Entertainment have reached a tentative understanding regarding licensing of Blizzard's Starcraft II. A source inside Netease confirmed that Blizzard had sent employees to Netease for an inspection.

The source said that Netease hopes to license Starcraft II to position itself in the market for competitive electronic gaming. A source for Blizzard China said that Starcraft II remains under development, and that there is as yet no information on operating rights for the China region.
