HD-DVD Consortium Faces Patent Lawsuit

On July 17, assistant director Pan Longfa of the Optical Memory Engineering Research Institute at Tsinghua University revealed that the Chinese version of HD-DVD discs would be hitting the market within the month. According to Beijing Fuguo Digital Technology, however, the Chinese HD-DVD system design contains elements that infringe upon EVD patents. Fuguo Digital is preparing to bring suit against the Chinese HD-DVD consortium.
