Beijing Unicom to Sell Disposable SIM Cards

Beijing Unicom announced yesterday that it will introduce a disposable, prepaid SIM card, the ";2008 Prepaid SIM Card (International)";, priced at RMB 20 for the card, with prepay options of RMB 100, 300 and 600.

International long-distance calls using the card will be cheaper by RMB 1-5 than competing cards. Calls from China to Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan will be assessed at RMB 1.4/minute; to Japan, Korean, the US and Canada, at RMB 3.4/minute, and to other countries at RMB 5/minute. In addition, calls received from within Beijing are free; domestic calls are charged at RMB 0.6/minute, with in-bound roaming calls charged at RMB 0.4/minute. Beijing Unicom will provide multilingual card sales services through its 10010 hotline.
