Alibaba Launches Export-to-China Service

Xinhua PRNewswire, 8/02/08

Chinese B2B e-commerce firm Alibaba (1688.HK) has launched a beta-version of a new service called Export-to-China, which is designed to help international small and medium enterprises (SMEs) export directly to Chinese buyers.

The service will provide international SMEs with a Chinese-language storefront, and members will also be able to make use of Alibaba's translation and promotional services.

Alibaba estimates that approximately 64% of its international suppliers are interested in selling into China and 52% of its Chinese members require imported goods.

Over 1,600 companies have signed up for the service since Alibaba began promoting it on June 20 this year. The beta test, which started today, will run for a limited period and be offered free of charge to existing paid members of Alibaba.
