Unicom Staff Begin Switch to China Telecom

Sources at China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) recently revealed that provincial Unicom subsidiaries have finalized the list of employees that will be transferred to China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK).

Zhejiang Unicom employees will make the switch to Zhejiang Telecom on September 8. Sources claim the entire CDMA staff will go to Zhejiang Telecom, with 20% of staff from other departments also being transferred.

Hainan Unicom has also announced its list, with 292 employees (approximately 20%) being transferred. Most of these employees will officially begin work at China Telecom on October 2, however a number of employees from the marketing department have already taken up their new positions.

Shanghai Unicom finalized its list of staff today, with 20% of staff from each of its departments making the move, or approximately 150 employees. These employees will sign contracts with Shanghai Telecom on October 1.
