Tudou Launches "Hei Dou" HD Video Product

Chinese online video sharing platform Tudou has announced a beta high-definition test version of its product, called Hei Dou (Black Bean), currently online at hd.tudou.com. The website has full copyright to the videos on display at this site, and is streaming them in high-definition. Tudou claims this is one of the company's strategic products this year.
Hei Dou will have three channels focusing on streaming television dramas, films and general shows. The content can be viewed free of charge and does not require the download of any software. The new platform is being primed with more than 10,000 videos Tudou acquired the rights to through negotiations with several television stations and copyright agents. It plans to continue expanding the amount of content on the platform.
