OpenV to Break Even

Hexun.com, 9/24/08

VP Zeng Fuhu of online video content provider OpenV says the company has partnered with CCTV, Beijing TV, the Shanghai Media Group and nearly 30 other TV stations to bring more than 3,000 Chinese-language television programs across 578 stations to OpenV's website, but that the site has "basically no user-generated content (UGC)."

Zeng said the company's advertising income will reach RMB 100 mln this year, making it possible for the company to break even within the year. OpenV will deepen its efforts in the field of UGC, including a planned series of programs similar to the popular ‘Bai Jia Jiangtan' television lecture series.

The website employs 220 people, and receives an average of 5 mln unique visitors per day, for traffic of more than 30 mln visits and 10 mln programs played per day.
