Guangdong Mobile Wins SMS Patent

Guangdong Mobile's self-developed "SMS Port Character Transformation" technology recently passed patent review by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO). Development on the software and service platform has been completed and is in testing in Huizhou.
Current SMS services require the entry of an 8-digit service code. The new technology allows for users to send alphabetical or Chinese characters instead, allowing - for example - Sina to use the code "Sina" or the Chinese characters for its name instead of the access code "10668888."
