SNS Site iPart Achieves Profitability

iPart, an SNS targeted primarily at female white-collar workers, has reportedly achieved profitability this year, and saw revenues of more than USD 3 mln. The site currently has approximately 180 employees, and 14 mln members, 60% of whom are female.
Prior to 2008, 80% of iPart's revenue came from the trade of virtual goods. This year, brand advertising revenue began to rise, leading to an expansion of the company's advertising sales team. In September last year, iPart also received USD 8.5 mln in funding from a Singapore-based investment firm.
