Hunan Satellite TV Faces Copyright Complaint

Morning, 12/31/08

James Ross, president of British media company ITV's Asia-Pacific region, recently revealed that ITV has lodged a complaint with the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) against Hunan Satellite TV's program "Challenge Microphone", which bears a strong resemblance to ITV's "Who Dares Sing". Ross stated that ITV is willing to discuss the matter with Hunan Satellite TV, but had not yet heard back from the company on the issue.

Editor's Note: ITV had previously licensed the format of "Who Dares Sing" to Jiangsu Satellite TV, and in late November, Hunan Satellite TV postponed the release of the Challenge Microphone, due to issues over the copyright of the show's format.
