Guangzhou Launches Mobile Payment for Digital TV

Guangdong Cable TV Network has signed an agreement with Guangzhou Mobile that will allow subscribers to make digital television subscription inquiries and payments over their mobile phones. The project is currently running trials in Guangzhou, and will eventually allow Guangdong Cable TV subscribers to inquire about premium channels via SMS. Users can then reply to the SMS with the smart card number from their set-top box (STB), and after confirming payment, the channel will be activated.
