Rumor: Shanda Licenses Kingsoft's JX Online World

17173.com, 1/12/09

According to an informed source, online game operators Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA) and Kingsoft (3888.HK) reached a deal at the end of last year which will see Shanda operate Kingsoft's MMORPG JX Online World, with Shanda's subsidiary network platform, Shanda Online, integrated into the support system for another MMORPG, JX Online II.

According to the source, the two firms had been in talks since the middle of 2008 on agency rights for the JX series of online games.

It was also previously rumored that Shanda and Kingsoft would cooperate on operation of Kingsoft's JX Online 3.

According to a Kingsoft insider, closed tests of JX Online 3 started last November, with 4,000 accounts opened. The test servers have now been shut down, with plans to reopen tests in March and to launch the game in July.
