Ctrip to Launch Centralized Insurance Sales Platform

Netease Tech, 2/05/09

Chinese online travel provider Ctrip (Nasdaq: CTRP) has announced on its website that it is partnering with insurance companies to launch a national, centrally managed aviation insurance sales platform. Commencing today, insurance policies issued by Ctrip will be managed through the platform and customers will be able to confirm policies with the insurance company involved based on their provided policy numbers. The system will first be tested until the end of the month in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hangzhou, and by the end of March, all aviation insurance sold through Ctrip will use the new system.

Editor's Note: This new move by Ctrip comes on the heels of earlier reports that customers purchasing aviation insurance through Ctrip were not actually receiving valid insurance policies from the stated insurance company.
