Shanghai Releases 2008 Software Statistics

New figures from the Shanghai Economic and Informatization Committee show that revenues for Shanghai's software industry broke RMB 100 bln last year, up 25% YoY. Software accounted for more than half of all IT services, with revenues rising from RMB 80.3 bln in 2007 to RMB 100.5 bln in 2008. Software companies employed 210,000 people throughout Shanghai last year, and registered a total of 1,782 software products. Software exports from Shanghai totaled USD 757 mln in 2008, up 28.7%.
