CCTV.com Sued for Copyright Infringement

Beijing Qiusuo Hengda Investment Company has filed a complaint against CCTV.com in Beijing No.1 Intermediate People's Court for copyright infringement. Qiusuo Hengda states it holds exclusive online broadcasting rights in the China Region for the television program 'Unforgettable Memory'. CCTV International Online, which operates the CCTV.com site, began broadcasting the program in January 2008, and also aired advertisements during the broadcast. Qiusuo Hengda is suing CCTV International to immediately cease its infringing activities, apologize, and pay compensation for losses totaling RMB 22.94 mln.
