PPS Trials Paid Membership Services

DoNews, 2/25/09

Chinese P2P video firm PPS (PPStream) has begun trials of paid membership services in order to expand the company's revenues beyond advertising. PPS memberships will be divided into Silver and Gold memberships, with a monthly fee of RMB 10-20. PPS members will receive "special privileges" include watching videos without interruption by ads.

PPS CEO Xu Weifeng said the service has already been in operation for several months, and is designed to meet the different needs of different users. It is currently still in the trial stages and only a small number of users have purchased memberships. PPS is considering other ways to increase revenues through value-added services, but has not yet developed a concrete plan.
