China to Regulate TV Shopping

Shanghai Evening Post, 3/03/09

Richard Wong, chairman of the China Direct Media Marketing Association (CDMMA), has stated that in November this year, China will release a national standard for the television shopping industry. The standard is being worked on by the CDMMA and the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), in collaboration with universities and industry experts.

The standards will address concerns among consumers regarding poor quality products, misleading advertising, unclear shipping charges and fraudulent advertisers who take payment but don't deliver any goods.
