ZTE to Produce Android Handsets

Chinese telecom equipment and mobile handset manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) has announced that it is developing a mobile phone based on Google's Android operating system. The company is also in talks with several European operators regarding vendor financing worth a total of between USD 100 mln to USD 1 bln, whereby ZTE would lend money to the operators to give them the means to expand and upgrade their networks.

Editor's Note: ZTE recently announced that the China Development Bank will provide the company a USD 15 bln line of credit, including ZTE's overseas project financing and ZTE's credit limits, to develop and expand overseas markets.
