Rumor: Shanda, The9 to Cooperate on Games

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, online game developer and operators Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA) and The9 (Nasdaq: NCTY) are in talks regarding cooperating on game operation, although no specifics were revealed. Shanda CEO Diana Li and The9 president Chen Xiaowei are said to have been holding secret talks since the beginning of the year, and recently, He Xudong, general manager of The9's R&D center has visited Shanda. It is likely that the two companies will enter an agreement over the operation of the game Dragon Emperor.
