TCL Announces 15 New TD-SCDMA Terminal Products

During the 2009 LTE Technology Development Forum held recently in Beijing, Wang Yun, TD-SCDMA software engineer at TCL Corporation's (000100.SZ) Industrial Research Institute, revealed that TCL plans to launch a total of 15 TD-SCDMA products in 2009, including 5 TD-SCDMA handsets, 2 high-speed data cards, 3 netbook computers, and 5 TD-SCDMA wireless wireline products. TCL spent an estimated RMB 80 mln on R&D for the 15 products, and most will support HSDPA.

TCL also plans to establish strategic cooperations with Chinese wireless baseband chipset providers including Spreadtrum Communications (Nasdaq: SPRD) and Datang Telecom Technology (600198.SH) to participate in operator network trials and develop commercially viable TD-LTE terminals.
