Li-Ning Expects Rapid Growth from E-commerce

At the "2009 China Apparel E-commerce Summit" held in Beijing on March 31, Stephen Weng, E-Business Department Business and Marketing Manager of Shanghai-based sportswear maker Li-Ning revealed that in 2007, there were about 800 stores on e-commerce site Taobao selling Li-Ning's products, with transaction value of tens of millions of RMB.

Li-Ning established its e-commerce team in January 2008 and opened its first online store on Taobao in April 2008. In June 2008, Li-Ning launched its own official online store. In July, Li-Ning single-store transactions on Taobao reached over 1,000. In October 2008, Li-Ning daily sales on Taobao reached RMB 100,000. In November 2008, Li-Ning formed a strategic partnership with IBM on online platform development. Li-Ning plans to upgrade its official site later this year.
