MIIT to Further Reduce Telecom Tariffs

Li Yizhong, head of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), has indicated that the MIIT would provide guidance for telecom operators to reduce telecom tariffs. A spokesperson for the MIIT stated that the ministry was not yet able to announce a specific timetable for the reductions.

In addition, Li mentioned that the MIIT would strengthen monitoring of the telecom market and tariffs, and continue efforts to solve problems associated with SMS spam, online fraud and cleaning up the web, placing a high-emphasis on feedback from society and consumers.
