Netease Obtains WoW Operating License

US game maker Blizzard and Chinese online company Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) announced today that upon the expiration of the current Chinese operator contract for World of Warcraft, operating rights will be transferred to Netease for a period of three years.

Editor's Note: Netease said it would continue to operate the game according to a pay-to-play (i.e. pay for time played) model. The9's license to operate WoW expires on June 8.
