Rumor: China Mobile to Launch Mobile Search Software

An industry source has disclosed that China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL, 0941.HK) "12580" integrated information services portal will launch a client software product to support daily life search services. Currently, this software has entered the last stage of internal testing, with release targeted for mid-May.

The software will facilitate searches for daily life information such as food and beverage, entertainment, lifestyle information, and map and direction services, and will also support downloading of coupons and vouchers from "12580"-registered food and beverage providers.

A representative from 12580's marketing department declined to comment specifically, but stated that as a general service platform, 12580 could offer any number of types of daily life information products.
