Round-3 TD-SCDMA Bidding Not Yet Settled

Referring to some Chinese media's reports yesterday that China Mobile (NYSE: CHL, 0941.HK) had closed bid tendering for its third round of TD-SCDMA equipment procurement, an insider from China Mobile revealed that the bid is still in process with results not scheduled to come out till the end of May.

Editor's Note: Previous rumor had it that China Mobile had closed bid tendering for its third round of TD-SCDMA equipment procurement, with market shares among vendors as follows: Datang Mobile and Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell (ASB) 23%, Huawei 20%, ZTE 18%, Postcom 15%, Fiberhome 8%, China Putian (Potevio) 6%, and 5% each for Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks.
