Guangdong and Jiangsu to Push IPTV Development

According to sources in Guangdong Telecom's comprehensive services department, Guangdong and Jiangsu will be areas of focus this year in China Telecom's (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) efforts to develop IPTV services. As of the end of March, the two provinces each had over 300,000 IPTV users, with that number expected to reach 1 mln each by the end of the year. By the end of 2008, there were 2.2 mln IPTV users nationwide, of which 1.5 mln were China Telecom customers.
