In response to the Chinese Ministry of Culture's most recent series of regulations concerning online game virtual currency, Giant Interactive (NYSE: GA) announced on June 26 that this July 6 it will discontinue the "treasure chest" feature in the free edition of its MMORPG ZT Online. The company also made an official commitment to step up research and development on new features in light of the new regulations.
