Suning: TVs Top Demand in Government 'Old for New' Appliance Program

Sina Tech, 6/30/09

Fan Zhijun, acting director for the north China region at consumer electronics and home appliances retailer Suning (002024.SZ), has revealed that consumer preference research conducted by Beijing Suning during the government's nationwide rural subsidy for appliances "old for new" promotion on June 20 found that among all of the old products being traded in for new ones, television sets were foremost, accounting for upwards of 40% of all requests, while computers accounted for only 8.82%.

Starting from the announcement of the "old for new" program on June 20, and continuing until specifics of the State Council-backed promotion are released, Beijing Suning will allow customers to pre-register at all of its outlets. In the week since the announcement of the promotion, 3,630 people have registered at Beijing Suning outlets.
