China's 2008 Digital Publishing Revenue Up 46%

Sun Shoushan, deputy director of China's General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP), has revealed national digital publishing statistics through December 2008, showing total annual revenue of RMB 53 bln, a YoY rise of 46.42%; total revenue for 2009 is forecast to be over RMB 75 bln.

Sun predicts that in the coming years, the number of digital publishing users will increase by 30% YoY, and revenue will increase by 50% YoY.

Digital publishing revenue statistics encompass: online periodicals and multimedia or interactive periodicals, e-books, digital newspapers (online and mobile), blogs, online music, mobile publishing (including color ringback tones, ringtones, mobile games and mobile animation), online games and internet advertising.
