Beijing Telecom to Offer Student Calling Plans

Beijing Telecom has announced it will offer low-cost campus calling plans to university students beginning July 15. The plans include a basic talk package for RMB 19 per month, music package for RMB 39 per month and Internet package for RMB 59 per month. The packages also eliminate the difference between local and long-distance calls, charging RMB 0.2 per minute for all outgoing calls. Subscribers making outgoing calls on campuses that belong to Beijing Telecom's university coalition will pay only RMB 0.1 per minute.
The packages also include a RMB 1 per month bundle of 100 SMS messages, while subscribers to the music and online plans will pay RMB 0.2 per minute on roaming calls during winter (January, February) and summer (July, August) holidays, as well as be able to make free calls to two self-selected phone numbers. 98 campuses currently belong to Beijing Telecom's campus coalition, and the operator has said membership will continue to grow.
