Baidu Q2 2009 Net Profit Up 44.6%

Chinese online search engine Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has reported its unaudited financial results for Q2 2009, with net revenues reaching RMB 1.097 bln (USD 160.7 mln), up 36.7% YoY, and net profits totaling RMB 383.3 mln (USD 56.1 mln), up 44.6% YoY.
Online marketing revenues for Q2 2009 rose 36.7% YoY to RMB 1.097 bln (USD 160.6 mln). Baidu had approximately 203,000 active online marketing customers in Q2 2009, up 12.2% YoY and up 9.7% QoQ. Revenue per online marketing customer was approximately RMB 5,400 (USD 791), a 22.7% increase from both the corresponding period in 2008 and the previous quarter.
Traffic acquisition cost (TAC) as a component of cost of revenues was RMB 175.4 mln (USD 25.7 mln), representing 16.0% of total revenues, as compared to 12.7% in the corresponding period in 2008 and 15.3% in the first quarter of 2009.
Baidu currently expects to generate total revenues in an amount ranging from RMB 1.26 bln (USD 184 mln) to RMB 1.29 bln (USD 189 mln) in Q3 2009, representing a 15% to 18% increase QoQ.
