Tencent Launches Promotion Aimed at MMO Guilds

Chinese Internet value-added services provider Tencent (0700.HK) has invited every gaming guild from self-developed 3D fantasy martial arts-themed MMORPG QQ Xian Xia Zhuan to attend the Tencent Games first official "Guild Awards" at the company's annual TencentJoy conference in Shanghai this October.

Ma Xiaoyi, VP of Tencent's entertainment division, said QQ Xian Xia Zhuan, which is in public beta, has over 1,000 registered guilds; this figure is far more than that of other games, though Tencent's approval process is unusually strict. The awardees will be the first allowed to try new games, as well as receiving special benefits in QQ Groups and Q Coins. Ma added Tencent will apply this system to more games in the future.
