China Mobile to Begin TD-LTE Trials Next Year

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) will begin large-scale outdoor TD-LTE trials in 2010, according to Ding Haiyu, deputy director of China Mobile Research Institute's wireless division. Speaking at a research forum on wireless technology's effects on mobile Internet, Ding also revealed that China Mobile will deploy 15 TD-LTE base stations at next year's Shanghai 2010 World Expo.

In H1 2009, some industry insiders reported that China Mobile would begin both indoor and outdoor trials in Q2 2010, deploying over 100 base stations in at least two cities.
