Shanghai Government to Nurture Online A/V Industry

Wang Wei, deputy minister of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and Television, said yesterday that the city aims to nurture 2-3 local online audiovisual firms to become domestically listed companies with a market capitalization between RMB 3-5 bln by 2012. The goal is part of the Shanghai government's plan to invest RMB 10 bln to develop 9 key new technology industries. Among these, the online audiovisual software and IT component industries will receive policy-based and financial support.
