Shanghai Unicom Pre-sells 1,000 iPhones

A source inside Shanghai Unicom says the operator has pre-sold nearly 1,000 Apple iPhones.

At China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) headquarters, a source said yesterday that the company had yet to see figures for iPhone reservations nationwide, making it impossible to comment on the status of iPhone pre-sales.

A previous China Unicom announcement said that users who reserved iPhones through the operator's online service centers would begin receiving their phones in the second half of October.
