Tencent to Invest in Search Engine Development

Jeff Xiong, co-CTO of Chinese internet company Tencent (0700.HK), has said that the company plans to increase investment in its search engine business. According to Xiong, the company is currently seeking local partners in Vietnam and India to which Tencent will provide product technology for further development. However, Xiong emphasized that China will remain Tencent's primary market, and will only consider expanding into overseas markets once Chinese market growth begins to flatten out.
