Square Enix's Final Fantasy to Enter China

CEO Wada Yoichi of Final Fantasy developer Square Enix announced that his company has officially decided upon China as a future target market, with plans to sign partnership agreements with a number of Chinese MMO companies. An industry source revealed that game operators Tencent (0700.HK) and 9You may license Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV.

Wada said Square Enix currently has a 50/50 split between overseas resources and Japanese resources. After bringing Final Fantasy XIV to China, he said, the company hopes for overseas resources to account for 70-80%.
