Via Telecom Plans 4G Chips, Cooperation with China Mobile

Zhang Ke, CEO of Taiwanese chipset and CPU manufacturer Via Technologies' subsidiary Via Telecom, has told Taiwan's Economic Daily News that Via Telecom is planning to develop 4G chipsets, and hopes to use these chipsets to become part of China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) supply chain. Zhang declined to discuss production timetables.
China Mobile has already launched a 4G test network, and plans to conduct commercial trials in Shanghai next year during the Shanghai 2010 World Expo.
