Yulong Reveals 3G Dual-Mode Handset Strategy

Sina Tech, 11/05/09

Gu Yong, marketing director for Chinese handset maker Yulong's Coolpad brand, has revealed that in response to the growth of 3G, Coolpad has extended its offerings on the dual-mode handset market from the original CDMA+GSM model to include new TD-SCDMA+GSM, CDMA2000+GSM, and WCDMA+GSM models. Coolpad's dual-mode handsets are targeted at the mid- to high-end market; the company currently has more than ten dual-mode handset products on sale, giving it about 50% of dual-mode handset sales by volume.

Coolpad stepped up its expansion into overseas markets in 2009, particularly into developing international markets like India, Vietnam, and Africa. A source at Coolpad said the company has seen rapid development overseas, with more than 100% growth. The India market is currently Coolpad's largest overseas market.
