China Mobile: Foxconn JIL Handset Available Next Year

Wang Jianzhou, CEO of China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), has told foreign media that Foxconn (2038.HK; 2354.TW) will launch a smartphone next year designed to support mobile application widgets developed by China Mobile's Joint Innovation Lab (JIL).

Speaking at a China Mobile conference in Shandong to promote the operator's i-Power corporate solutions brand, Wang added that China Mobile will deploy an embedded smart card service for Foxconn. The service will allow Foxconn's more than 300,000 employees to use their handsets to access, as well as make purchases within, Foxconn facilities.
