Baidu Completes Switchover to Phoenix Nest

Netease Tech, 12/1/09

Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has fully activated its "Phoenix Nest" search advertising platform, completely replacing its original paid search ranking system (a.k.a Baidu Classic).

Shen Haoyu, Baidu's vice president of commercial operations, said that in the short term, the switch to Phoenix Nest may cause some advertisers to leave or stop paying for advertisements, but Shen added that potential client loss is not a cause for concern.

Shen said that the effect of the switchover will not be evident until the end of December, and that relevant information will be available in the company's Q4 financial report.
