The9 Uses Tencent's Q Coins to Steal Gamers

Duowan, 12/30/09

Chinese online game developer and operator The9 (Nasdaq: NCTY) has sent an open letter to players of Dungeon & Fighter (DNF), a side-scrolling MMORPG operated by Tencent (0700.HK), inviting players to participate in an open beta of World of Fighter, The9's own self-developed and operated side-scrolling online fighting game, beginning January 8, 2010.

The letter promises that DNF players who try World of Fighter and are unsatisfied with the gaming experience offered by the game will be "compensated and thanked" by The9 with a gift of Q coins (Tencent's virtual currency). Players who remain in the game will be rewarded with another "significant gift" from The9.
